Classroom Guidance Update

Going into the classrooms is one of the best parts of my job! It’s also one of the most important. I get to work with, and interact with, all of the children.  The lessons that comprise Classroom Guidance are developed based on issues and needs that are important to our students. (The objectives are aligned with the VDOE ‘Standards for School Counseling Programs in Virginia)

So far this year, in the K-2 classes, we have worked on respect, diversity/tolerance, problem-solving, friendship skills, kindness, and patience.

During every class, we also spend some time on breathing techniques to promote calmness. Your child should be able to teach you snake breath, bunny breath, bear breath, bumblebee breath, and hot cocoa breath.

Classroom Guidance lessons currently are being planned for Career Exploration, honesty, sportsmanship, and responsibility.
